One Week Until Our Big Day!!!

It's hard to believe that our wedding day is just a week away.  We're very excited and anxious to have our family and friends arrive in a few days to celebrate our wedding.  So before you start packing and leave on a jet plane to come to Maui, here is an itinerary for the week of our wedding.

Wednesday, July 27th
Most of our family and friends arrive.  This is a great day to settle in, adjust to the time change, and relax on the beach. We recommend that you stop at Costco (near the airport) or Safeway (in Lahaina) for snacks, drinks, and the much needed sunscreen before heading to your condos.

Thursday, July 28th
  • If you are not a Groomsmen, please skip this next paragraph:  Nick and his groomsmen have a 7:00 AM adventure planned.  Please wear close-toed shoes and meet at 6:00 AM at the Eldorado.  At 3:00 PM, you will have a tux fitting in Kihei.

  • For everyone else, the morning is open to relax, hang out, and explore.
  • 5:00 PM - Rehearsal at St. Theresa Church in Kihei
  • 6:00 PM - Rehearsal/Welcome Gathering at Kalama Park.  Everyone is welcome to join!  This is a casual event for everyone to meet and greet.  There will be plenty of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
  • For those that want to go out to a nightclub for dancing and drinks later that evening, we plan to go to Timba in Lahaina.
Friday, July 29th
  • If you are not a Bridesmaid, please skip the next paragraph: I plan to take you out for a luncheon at noon in Wailea.  After lunch we will enjoy crafts by the pool side at our apartment, so please bring your swimsuit and towels to change into.
  • For everyone else, Friday is open to do whatever your hearts desire: play golf, swim with turtles, eat local foods, and explore other beaches.
Saturday, July 30th - Wedding Day!
  • 2:00 PM - Ceremony begins at St. Theresa Church in Kihei.  It approximately takes 45 minutes to drive to Kihei from Lahaina.  So, please figure the time in which you need to leave your condos to arrive on time.
  • 4:30 PM - Reception begins at Pioneer Inn in Lahaina.  There is free parking along Wainee St. in Lahaina.  Otherwise, please find paid parking near the Pioneer Inn.
Sunday, July 31st
  • 5:45 PM - Old Lahaina Luau, please view the blog post below!  Nick will cancel the remaining tickets that he has booked for the Ancheta/O'Leary group by the end of the day.  If you have not reserved and purchased your tickets, we will not be able to provide you the discounted group rate.
Lastly, thank you for all your support and love.  We feel so blessed that you will all be here in a few days.  Safe travels and we'll see you soon!

We love you all,

Soon-to-be Bride and Groom!
Audrey and Nick

It's June 15th!

For those that have received our invitations, it's June 15th!  If we haven't received your RSVP, does this mean that you are NOT coming to Hawaii for our wedding?  If you are planning to attend and have not sent your RSVP, please email us at nick.audrey73011@gmail.com and let us know that you'll be attending and how many persons in your party.

We're excited that there's only 45 days until our BIG day!  It's crazy how quickly time has gone.  We have selected our wonderful people that will help us make our wedding amazing and to help us remember our special day.

Photographer: Sheila Addleman - We met by some cosmic mishap.  I responded to a photographer assistant position that Sheila never posted.  We met for coffee and that was it!  We've became friends, photography associates, and now she's coming to Hawaii to photograph my wedding.  I'm excited to have her here to help celebrate with me and capture lasting images of our wedding.

DJ: ChillTown Production - Searching and talking with people on the island, we came across "Bud" an easy-going, chill local DJ.  He understands our vision for our day and will make the wedding reception fun and memorable.

Florist: ASA Floral - We emailed a handful of florists on the island and discovered ASA Floral.  Out of all the florists the we emailed, ASA seemed to be the most reasonable in price and was very friendly.  We're excited to see the creativity in the bouquets and boutonnieres that ASA creates.

Cake: Maui Wedding Cakes - Nick found this vendor because it's the only one in Kihei.  We met them, tasted some of their cakes and now they'll be the one providing dessert for all!

P.S. If you haven't made your reservations at the Maui Eldorado - please contact them ASAP.  Space is limited and we would hate for you to not stay with everyone else.

See you next month!!!

Our Visit to the Mainland

Time flies when you're having fun.  We can't believe that there are only 56 days left until our wedding day!  What the...?!  Can you believe it?!

We have been busy.  During the end of April, we were able to visit our family and friends in Seattle, Chicago, and Janesville.  While in Seattle, we celebrated our Bachelor and Bachelorette party.  Without mentioning any details of the evening, we both had an amazing time being with our close friends and we are very thankful for such an awesome evening.

On our stop to Chicago, we stayed at the Four Seasons Ritz with Matt and Cindy.  We were able to visit with Neil, one of Nick's groomsmen, and my close friend, Stephanie.  We had a great time visiting with them while listening to Diva Dee at the Back Room, a cool jazz club in downtown Chicago (Matt - if you're reading this blog, you still owe us a copy of the CD.  Mahalo).

Our last stop was to Janesville, WI.  We celebrated Connor's first birthday and Nick's family threw us a fabulous Hawaiian themed wedding shower.  The wedding shower was held at Mocha Moment, a cute coffee house in the middle of town.

Leaving to go home to Maui felt weird.  Most people are happy to be traveling to Maui, but for us, we were sad to leave our family and friends on the mainland.  We had such an awesome time and we miss you all so very much!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered...It's Yours!

Along with our Netflix movie, our wedding invitations have been signed, sealed, and delivered!  There are only 3 months until our big day and it feels like there is so much more that we need to do.  But today, a huge weight has been lifted by getting our invitations sent out and we cannot wait for you all to receive them in the mail.

Our Engaged Encounter Weekend

Nick and I completed our Engaged Encounter Weekend!  For those of you that may not know, the Engaged Encounter Weekend offers couples a unique opportunity to look at their commitment to each other in a deeper way as they prepare for marriage.

Our first reaction to the Engaged Encounter Weekend was of skepticism and of obligation.    Why must we pay $300.00 for a weekend that we don't find necessary?  Nick and I know each other pretty well.  The money could go toward invitations, decorations, or, I don't know, food at the reception!  But because we've decided to marry at St. Theresa's, Father Watanabe says it's mandatory for us to complete the Engaged Encounter Weekend before we get married.  So, we went.

During the weekend, we sat with 3 other engaged couples listening to 3 married couples reflect on their marriage and how they've all survived the trials and tribulations of married life.  It was a confirmation for Nick and I that relationships take work and with the right tools, we can make our marriage the best adventure both of us take.

The most significant thing that happened to us this weekend was that we realized how much we think alike and that we're on the same page.  And although Nick and I know each other pretty well, we both gained even more knowledge about each other.  This weekend brought us closer.  In hindsight, we're so grateful that we decided to forego our initial feelings about the Engaged Encounter Weekend because as they say, "A Wedding is a day...A Marriage is a Lifetime."
